The Story of Greeley Country Club

In 1920, Greeley Country Club opened its doors after Tom Bendelow staked out a private 9-hole course and modest clubhouse. Tom Bendelow, nicknamed "the Johnny Appleseed of American Golf," is noted as the course designer to over 600 golf courses around the country, most notably Medinah Country Club and East Lake at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

In the 1960s, with a boom in the game, the club brought in Press Maxwell to complete a renovation of the course.  He designed an additional 9 holes, thus comprising the 18 holes that are seen at GCC today.  Along with the increase in popularity for the game of golf came the need for a more expansive clubhouse.  In 1962, the existing clubhouse was torn down and a new state of the art facility was created.

While the building remains the same, Greeley Country Club has been re-modeled with historic charm in mind to suit its 100-year history. With all the modern amenities found in the Country Clubs of today, it is important for us at Greeley to maintain our Country Club’s historic aesthetic. And the timing could not be better as we prepare for our centennial celebrating this year.

Why you should become a Greeley Country Club Member

"We joined because we were looking for a better way to spend quality family time. We enjoy the family activities that the Club provides and the Sunday afternoons we spend on the course with our children are priceless. Our kids love the junior programs, and I think they would be more heartbroken than anyone if we ever had to leave the Club.” - Members Since 2010

Why you should get a Greeley Country Club Membership

"I joined the club to reward myself, but I soon realized that it was a great place for my kids too. I never imagined that both my son and daughter would enjoy the game of golf as much as they do. The life lessons that golf teaches like honesty, integrity, respect, and perseverance have really been beneficial to them.” - Members Since 2012

"My wife and I were new to the area and really didn’t know anyone. I convinced her that it would be a great way to meet people in the community and I was right. I have met so many great people at the Club and have made several life-long friendships.” - Members Since 2001
